he was trained and served as a Radioman in the 3rd Joint Assault Signal Company 1942-1945. He served on Guadalcanal, Marshall Islands, Guam, and Iwo Jima. He received the Presidential Unit Citation Medal with Bronze Star, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with Two Bronze Stars, and the WWII Victory Medal. He was awarded the V-12 appointment in 1945, one of 30 Marines from the 3rd Marine Division.
