He was the navigator of A B-17 aircraft named 'Miss Kerridge', that flew missions over Occupied Europe. He was stationed in Grafton-Underwood, England. He was a 610 Armour Gunner (Toggler) taking care of all turrets, guns, bombs and ammunition on the Miss Kerridge. He was with the 385TH Bomb Group and 544TH Bomb Squadron. He performed these duties from 1942 to 1944.
