Rank: Private 1st Class. On December 26, 1943, he entered the United States Marine Corps as a draftee from Pennsylvania, receiving his combat infantry training at the Marine Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, assigned to the Sixth Replacement Draft attached to the Third Battalion, 21st Marine Regiment a subordinate unit of the Third Marine ‘The Fighting Third’ Division. His division participated in the amphibious assault against the Japanese Imperial Army and Naval forces on the Volcanic Island of Iwo Jima (Battle Dates: February 19-March 26, 1945) Code Name: Operation Detachment. Killed in Action Saturday, 24, 1945 and buried in the Third Marine Division battlefield cemetery on Iwo. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family received his remains for burial, with interment May 11, 1948 at the Beverly National Cemetery in Beverly, New Jersey. This Marine, an American Patriot so gallantly gave his life for his country.
