Activity During WWII

ENLISTED in the U.S. Army when he was 18 years of age. He later entered in the Air Force. He was chosen and trained to be a pilot of a B-17 bomber and flew 'Swinging on a Star'. Shot down on his second mission, he safely landed in a turnip field in Brussels, Belgium. He and his crew made it back to his base in Bury, St. Edmonds. HE eventually COMPLETED 36 missions successfully.
