Activity During WWII

He was a heavy machine gunner with the 102nd Infantry, 407th Regiment, Company A who volunteered to change his duty to light artilleryman due to taking heavy casualties near Wurz, Germany in December, 1944. On 3 December while under heavy artillery fire from a Panzer division, he took a direct hit severing his right arm, and sustaining a severe head injury. He died of his wounds 2 days later.
