Rank: Private 1st Class. On July 3, 1941, he entered the United States Marine Corps from Pennsylvania, receiving his combat infantry training at the Marine Corps Depot Marine Barracks in Parris Island, South Carolina. Served as a Rifleman with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment a subordinate unit of the 1st Marine ‘The Old Breed’ Division in the Pacific Theater of Operations. His Division participated in the amphibious assault against the Japanese Imperial Army and Naval forces on the island of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands Campaign (Battle Dates: August 7, 1942-February 9, 1943) Code Name: Operation Watchtower. Reported missing in action, lost at sea Monday, September 14, 1942. In Remembrance of the Brave, his name is recorded in the Tablets of the Missing, memorialized at the American Cemetery located at Fort Bonifacio in Manila, Philippine Islands. This Marine, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life his country.
