Rank: Private. A United States Marine, who entered into the Marine Corps as a draftee from Wisconsin, receiving his combat infantry training at the Marine Recruit Depot, in San Diego, California. Served as a Rifleman with Company-E, Third Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment a subordinate unit of the 1st Marine ‘The Old Breed’ Division in the Pacific Theater of Operations. His division participated in the Battle of Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands against the Imperial Army and Naval forces (Battle Dates: Easter Sunday, April 1-June 22, 1945) Code Name: Operation Iceberg. Killed in action Sunday, May 13, 1945 and buried in the First Division Cemetery on Okinawa. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family received his remains for burial, with interment in a private cemetery in Wisconsin. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
