He served as a Private First Class in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 399th Infantry Regiment, Second Battalion, Company E, in the European Theater of Operations. He was stationed in Scotland, France, and Germany. He was Killed in Action April 8, 1945. Awards: Bronze Star Medal, Silver Star (Lemberg, France), Purple Heart.
