Worked in the South Portland Shipyard making liberty ships. Enlisted in 1944 and joined the 402nd Combat Engineers, part of the 2nd Corps. Later transferred to the 88th Division artillery where he served as a gunner. Awarded the Good Conduct and WWII Victory medals and the European campaign ribbon.
