Activity During WWII

She was a U.S. citizen and joined the British Red Cross in 1939 after being trapped by U-Boats in Alexandria, Egypt and unable to return home. Worked in the Allied General Hospital in Cairo and later at Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force (SHAEF) Hospital in London. Was awarded the British 1939-1945 Star medal, the Africa Star medal and the War medal. Also received the U.S. Red Cross overseas medal and the U.S. Red Cross volunteer ribbon (with bars) for 3,000 hours of service.
