Drafted after high school graduation in 1944. Spent 60 days in Basic Training at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey. Rushed to Europe as a replacement after the Battle of the Bulge began, arrived in mid January, 1945 and assigned to 7th Armored Division. Fought in Belgium and Germany, discharged in November, 1945. Earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, Bronze Star, the European campaign ribbon, Good Conduct and WWII Victory medals.
