Activity During WWII

At the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. He was assigned to Marine Bomber Squadron 611. Their ship was delayed in Hawaii while the rest of the task force went to the Philippine Islands. His ship’s captain was able to attach himself to other groups and scavenged supplies so that they eventually made it to Mindanao.
