Joined in 1941 and sent to the Philippine Islands. Wounded on the raids at Clark Field on December 10, 1941, he was captured at Bataan. Survived the death march and spent 3 years as a Prisoner of War. He earned the American Defense medal, the Purple Heart, the Prisoner of War medal, WWII Victory medal and Asiatic-Pacific campaign ribbon. Also awarded the Philippine Defense and Liberation medals.
