ROTC at MIT. Enlisted in 1942 and assigned to the First Armored Division in the Engineers. Took part in the invasions of Africa, Sicily and Italy. Awarded the Purple Heart after being hit by a strafing Messerschmidt. Later served in Austria and Germany and headed the assessment team that located German nuclear scientists. Discharged in 1946.
