Enlisted in October, 1942. Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning and commissioned at age 18. Earned pilots wings in 1944 after transfer and served in the 9th Carrier Command in Europe. Awarded the Air medal (3 palms), the American and European theater ribbons, the WWII Victory and Occupation medals. Discharged in 1946.
