After basic training, I was transferred to the Naval Air Technical Training Center, Memphis, Tennessee. I completed Aviation Machinist's Mate Service School and taught in the school until February 1945. I was transferred to the Pacific Fleet Airforce, assigned to a Combat Aircraft Service Unit. Later developed a stomach ulcer, sent to the Naval Hospital at San Diego, then discharged.
