Infantryman in the European Campaign as a member of the Third Army, 95th Infantry Division, 379th, Company M. One of the 'Mighty Men of Metz' and received a Commendation from General Patton. Also engaged in the battle for the Saar River and was wounded in battle on December 22, 1944 in Saarlautern, Germany for which he was honored with a Purple Heart. Was then part of the reinforcements of the Battle of the Bulge.
