He served in WWII as a Utility Repairman with Charlie Company 287th Engineers for 13 months in England, France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, Holland and Italy. He emplaced Bailey Bridges, installed plumbing in mess halls, Maintained and repaired bridges, barracks, and was a rigger of block and tackles, winches, power trucks and carried a rifle.
