Studied freelance photo-journalism at MIT. Credentialed by the War Department in 1943. Covered the war in the Pacific as a war correspondent. She was the only female reporter to be on Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She ignored orders not to go to the front and was in combat 10 days before Marine Military Police found her and sent her home at Okinawa.
