Served in the Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service (WAVES). Enlisted December 13, 1943. She was sent to Cedar Falls, Iowa for specialized training and then to the Naval Air Technical Training Command, Board of Trade Building in Chicago for her first duty station. She later transferred to her final position at the training school. She was selected to appear on several recruiting posters for the WAVES during the time she served.
