Rank: Private. On August 6, 1943, he entered the United States Marine Corps from Minnesota, receiving his combat infantry training at the Marine Corps Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina. Served with Company-K as a Rifleman, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Marine Regiment, 5th Amphibious Corps in the North Pacific Theater of Operations. His regiment participated in the invasion of the Ebon Atoll against the Imperial Japanese Army forces located in the Marshall Islands. Killed in Action Friday, March 24, 1944 and buried at the Mausoleum #1, Territory of Hawaii. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, the remains of this Marine were interred at the Honolulu National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii. He had fought in a previous Combat Operation: The Battle of Engebi Island, located on the Eniwetok Atoll, Marshall Islands. This Marine, an American Patriot, awarded the Purple Heart posthumously, who so gallantly gave his life for his country.
