Enlisted in June, 1942 immediately after graduation from high school. Trained at Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho. Served as tail gunner on Flying Fortress (B-17F) 'Miss Carriage', 544th squadron, 384th Bomber Group, 8th Air Force. Killed in Action June 26, 1943 over Villacoublay, France. Flak hit wing at 24,000 feet, wing collapsed and collided with nose of aircraft, and aircraft exploded shortly thereafter. He is Buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, North Carolina.
