Activity During WWII

Rank: Private. On April 12, 1943, he entered the United States Marine Corps from Mississippi, receiving his Marine combat training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Camp Lejeune in New River, North Carolina. Served with the Second Marine Depot Company, Fourth Base Depot, Supply Services, an element of the First Amphibious Corps. He died Sunday, November 12, 1944 in a non-battle incident and buried in the Guadalcanal Cemetery, Solomon Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family requested that his remains be interred at the Honolulu National Cemetery of the Pacific ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii, with interment January 27, 1949. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
