Rank: Private First Class. On September 18, 1941, he entered the United States Marine Corps, receiving his Marine combat training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, South Carolina. Aviation Training at the Marine Air Group-24, 2nd Marine Air Wing Cherry Point, North Carolina and Aircraft Engineering Squadron-14, United States Marine Corps Air Station, Quantico, Virginia. Served with the Marine Scout Bombing Squadron-141, Marine Aircraft Group-14 First Marine Aircraft Wing, and stationed on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands in the Southwestern Pacific Theater of Operations. He died Wednesday, November 4, 1942 in a non-battle incident and buried in the United States Marine Cemetery on Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family requested that his remains be interred at the Honolulu National Cemetery of the Pacific ‘Punchbowl’ Hawaii, with interment June 12, 1949. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life in defense of his country.
