Activity During WWII

He served in the United States Coast Guard-American Merchant Marine during WWII. His rating was Purser/Pharmacist's Mate. His active duty dates included the following: 2-6-44 to 9-14-44 aboard the Vessel Walter Wyman; 10-13-44 to 4-16-45 aboard the Vessel Buena Vista Hills; 4-17-45 to 7-29-45 aboard the Vessel Coyote Hills. In recognition of his honorable service, He received a WWII Victory Medal, Combat Bar with Star, Honorable Service Button, Pacific War Zone Medal and Merchant Marine Emblem. He also received a Presidential Letter signed by President Harry S. Truman to extend the heartfelt thanks of our Nation for their courage and fortitude. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Coast Guard on July 29, 1945, for his honest and faithful service as part of the Armed Forces of the United States of America.
