He served as a paratrooper in the Pacific Theater of War as a member of the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment. He saw action at Leyte, Mindoro, Noemfoor, and finally Corregidor in the Philippine Islands, where he died on 24 February 1945, after being wounded in action against Japanese forces. He served his country from October 1939 up until his death.
