Activity During WWII

Enlisted in 1942. Platoon leader in the 9th Infantry Division. Fought in North Africa, Sicily and landed at Utah Beach. Captured in August, 1944 he escaped from a German Prisoner of war camp in April, 1945. Received two Purple Hearts, the Bronze Star, the Combat Infantryman badge, the Good Conduct and WWII Victory medals and the European campaign ribbon with six stars and three arrowheads. Discharged in late 1945. Later received the Prisoner of War medal from President Clinton.
