Activity During WWII

Rank: Private First Class. On August 30, 1941, he entered the United States Marine Corps from Kansas, receiving his Marine Combat Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. Served with the Third Joint Assault Signal Company, Headquarters Battalion, a subordinate unit of the 3rd Marine ‘The Fighting Third’ Division. His division participated in the amphibious assault against the Imperial Japanese Army and Naval forces on the Island of Guam located in the Mariana Islands (Battle Dates: July 21–August 10, 1944) Code Name: Operation Forager. Killed in Action Sunday, August 6, 1944 and buried in the Marine Cemetery #3 on Guam. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family received his remains for burial, with interment at the Liberal Cemetery in Liberal, Kansas. In Remembrance and Honor of the Brave, his name appears on the Guam Memorial Wall, Panel, Six located at the Asan Bay Overlook. This Marine, an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
