Navigator on the Mitchell B-25 Bomber 'Rum-Runner', Aircraft ID # 41-24243 under the command of Captain George Bell. His unit was the 374th Bomb Squadron, 308th Bomb Group, 14th Air Force. The unit performed several war-critical duties during their deployment. Firstly, they ferried men and supplies around China-Burma-India. Secondly, they launched a number of raids on Japanese positions in French Indochina. They attacked rail and supply centers and dropped mines on the area. It was on the return flight of one of these missions that his plane was brought down. He was posthumously promoted and awarded the purple heart.
