Served from September, 1942 until October, 1945 as a mechanic and crew chief in the 8th Air Force. Stationed overseas two years in the United Kingdom. He repaired bomber engines and flew combat test flights over France. Awarded the Air Medal, the Good Conduct medal, the American and European campaign medals and the WWII Victory medal. Also awarded the Expert Mechanics badge.
