He participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and Ardennes campaigns, in the 3rd Armored Division. He served from January 1942 until November 1945. His military occupational specialties included Draftsman, Ammunition Bearer, Bugler, and Radio Tender. He received a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal, and earned four overseas bars.
