B-17 Bomber pilot who few 19 missions. On D-Day crossed the English Channel into France on a mission to bomb a bridge. Over Germany in November, 1944 his aircraft was hit by anti-aircraft fire. Bailed out and was captured by Germans. Prisoner of war until Spring, 1945 when General Patton liberated him and thousands of other prisoners. Received the French Legion of Honor and other medals.
