2nd Corps and VI Combat Engineer with the 175th Regiment attached to the U.S. 7th and then 5th Army. Entered the War as part of the invasion of Morocco in November, 1942. Fought through the Kasserine Pass and on to Tunisia. In 1943 he was a part of the Sicilian and Italian Mainland Campaigns in support of infantry at Anzio, Salerno, Naples, Foggia and Cassino. In 1944 under General Mark Clark, he was one of the first Allied troops to enter and liberate Rome. He then spent the winter of 1945 in the Apennines Mountains supporting the 10th Mountain Division before returning home.
