Activity During WWII

he fought in the Army in Europe. He received a citation for leading his squad during the assult of the Siegried Line. He and 700 other paratroopers were dropped 80 miles behind enemy lines. While in Anzio he was temporarily blinded and was sent to a hospital in Europe ands was later returned to active duty. Discharged August 29, 1945 with rank of staff sergeant. Awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with 7 Bronze Stars and Bronze Arrowhead, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Citation with Oak Leaf Cluster, Certificate of Merit and European Theater of Operations Medal. Served 1942-1945.
