Enlisted June 5, 1943 after graduation from high school. Flight engineer on B-29 Super Fortress #44-69899, 871st Bombardment Squadron, 497th Bomb Group, Twentieth US Air Force based at Isely Field, Saipan. Reported missing May 6, 1945 when his B-29 crashed 50 miles from Osaka, Japan in mountainous terrain. Plane lost engines 3 and 4 before bomb run, but stayed on course to drop bombs and complete mission. He became a Prisoner of War and was executed.
