Activity During WWII

He was assigned to the 1st Army Air Forces Flying Training Detachment and taking basic flight training with the Army Air Forces Contract Glider School at Young Municipal Field, Fort Morgan, Colorado. He was in solo flight training and was flying his final solo flight before earning his wings when he was involved in a fatal plane crash. On the evening of August 25, 1942, he was flying a Taylorcraft L-2A aircraft and coming in for a routine night landing when the aircraft went into a spin and crashed.
