Enlisted in 1942. Completed Army Specialist Training at North Dakota State College in 1942. Sent overseas and served in the 44th Infantry Division, 71st Infantry Regiment in the Headquarters Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon. Wounded in action near Strasbourg, France in 1944 and awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Fought in Germany. Discharged in 1945.
