Served as a Gunner's Mate 2nd class Petty Officer on the destroyer escort USS Stern (DE-187) which participated in the liberation of Luzon and in the screening fleet for the invasion of Iwo Jima. Inducted 10 March 1943 and separated 19 March 1946. He was awarded Good Conduct, American Theater Campaign, Asiatic-Pacific, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign, WWII Victory and Navy Occupation Medals. He continued his service after the war.
