Enlisted in 1942 from Bowdoin. Served in Oran, Morocco then transferred to India, Burma and later Chungking and Shanghai, China. Awarded the Merit medal and Bronze Star, he also received the Asiatic-Pacific, American and European campaign ribbons, as well as the Good Conduct, WWII Victory and China campaign and Chinese liberation medal. He was briefly attached to the Flying Tiger squadron in China.
