Activity During WWII

Enlisted in 1942. Captured in combat in February, 1943 and held as a Prisoner of War in Stalags in Poland and Munich until April, 1945. He was forced to bury hundreds of Russians from the camp next to his. He spent a month in solitary confinement and was beaten severly by German guards after he attempted to go beyong the camp wire. He was so badly injured he was later nominated for a Purple Heart. Discharged in September, 1945.
