Enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Forces on August 19, 1944 at Ft. McClellan, Georgia. Assigned to the 994th Air Material Squadron, 559th Air Service Group as a toxic gas handler. Served in the Pacific Theater of Operations from May 25, 1945-August 21, 1946 and participated in the Ryukyus Campaign. Received the following decorations: Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation (Japan), Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with one bronze star, WWII Victory Medal and two Overseas Service Bars.
