He was assigned to the 752nd Squadron of the 458th Bomb Group. On 24 December 1944, he was flying as Nose Gunner on a plane attacking Schoenecken, Germany. Shortly after bombs away, he was killed when the plane was hit by flak and split in two just aft of the bomb bay.
