Activity During WWII

Originally served from 1936 to 1940 on board the USS Quincy CA-39. He left his civilian job as a shipboard engineer working on the Army Corps of Engineers ferries out of New London, Connecticut and re-enlisted in the U.S. Navy in early 1942. From June 1942 to September 1945, he served on-board the USS O'Bannon DD-450 from it's commissioning at Boston Naval Shipyard through all WWII missions. During this time, the USS O'Bannon earned 17 Battle Stars. He was on board the O'Bannon as it entered Tokyo Bay for the Japanese surrender.
