Serving on the Yorktown, he became part of the crew which aided the raids on Tarawa, Abemama, and Makin, Jaluit, Wotje and Kwajalein Atolls, the Marshall Islands, Maloelap, Kwajalein, Majuro Atoll, the Mariana Islands, New Guinea, Saipan, the Palau Islands, Woleai, the support of MacArthur’s assault on the Hollandia, Truk lagoon, Guam, Bonin Islands, Admiral Ozawa’s Carrier Force, Pagan Islands, Iwo Jima, Chichi Jima, Yap, Ulithi, the Philippine Islands, Formosa, Canton, Tokyo, Kyushu, Honshu, and Shikoku, Okinawa, Hokkaido, Yokosuka, Japan and help sink the Battleship Yamato.
