He served as a Private First Class in WWII with the 100th Infantry Division (Century Division), 399th Infantry Regiment, First Battalion. Company A, in the European Theater of Operations. He died on December 16, 1944, as Prisoner of War in a German Dressing Station. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
