Activity During WWII

After receiving his commission on September 10, 1942, he was assigned to the 33rd Infantry Division as Communications Officer for the First Battalion. In New Guinea he became Battalion Adjutant for the First Battalion and served in that capacity through the New Guinea and Luzon Campaigns. He was awarded the Expert and Combat Infantryman Badges and the Bronze Star Medal. He obtained the rank of Captain.
