Enlisted at Fort Harrison, Indianapolis, Indiana, with basic training at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi, and as an aviation student at Cadet Training Center, Houghton, Michigan, and Santa Ana, California. Assigned to Truax Field, Madison, Wisconsin, for Radio Mechanic School, then to Chanute Field, Rantoul, Illinois, and Boca Raton Field, Florida, for Radar Mechanic-Bombardment training. Served in the Continental United States as Crew Chief for airborne radar equipment in B-29 Bomber aircraft. Stationed at McDill Field and Drew Field, Tampa, Florida, Gulf Port Field, Mississippi, and Kearney Field, Nebraska. Continued his service after WWII.
