Technician Fourth Grade, Signal Corps, 2nd Signal Battalion, United States Army. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service in Germany from 7 February 1945 to 22 February 1945, in connection with military operations against the enemy. During this period, he was a member of a wire construction team assigned the mission of laying and maintaining wire circuits to two observations posts in a flood warning system along the Roer River. To accomplish this mission it was necessary for the crew to lay and maintain wire through heavily mined areas under direct enemy observation. Continuous artillery and mortar fire caused wire failures and endangered the crew. Despite these hazards, wire communications to the observation posts were maintained, and the completion of this mission contributed greatly to the operation of the flood warning system. The courage and devotion to duty he displayed reflects great credit upon himself and the Military Service. Entered Military Services from Michigan.
