Rank: Private. On April 14, 1943, he entered the United States Marine Corps from California, receiving his Boot Camp Training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Later he completed his Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton, California. Served in Company-A as a Rifleman, First Battalion, First Marine Regiment, and a subordinate unit of the First Marine ‘the Old Breed’ Division in the Western Pacific Theater of Operations. His division participated in the amphibious assault on the Island of Peleliu against the Imperial Japanese Army and Naval forces, Code Name: Operation Stalemate II. Killed in action Friday, September 15, 1944 on the first day of the invasion and buried in the United States Armed Forces Cemetery, Manila #2 Philippine Islands. After the cessation of hostilities with Japan, his family received his remains for burial, with interment September 20, 1949 at the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California. This Marine an American Patriot, so gallantly gave his life for his country.
