Entered service on 8 February, 1944. Flight training included primary training at Curtis Field, Brady, Texas and twin engine training at Laughlin Field in Del Rio, Texas. Assigned to 54th Fighter Squadron, 343rd Fighter Group, Eleventh Air Force at Ft. Richardson, Alaska on 21 December 1944. Served in Aleutian Islands, Alaska as a P-38 pilot until 14 March 1946 when he returned to the states. Separated from active duty on 20 July 1944 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas at rank of First Lieutenant. Decorations include Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal.
